Africa Theological Journal is linked with Tumaini University Makumira, Tanzania.

The journal has a long tradition ranging back to XXX as the first academic journal in African Theology.

It started as printed journal in XXX, in 2023 the editorial board decided to publish ATJ online and with open access for both authors and readers. Authors, especially from African contexts, will be able to reach readers all over the world. Students and scholars from African contexts will have free access to high quality theological contributions from a Lutheran perspective in African contexts.

The online publication is done in cooperation with "IxTheo Open Journals".
